In 1993, the National Core Journal of Chinese Archaeology published a paper entitled "Research on Portrait Stone Tombs in the Yuan Dynasty". In 2020, the Journal of Comparative Research on Chinese Cultural Innovation published a paper entitled "On the Confidence Framework of Chinese Culture Based on the Context of Chinese Art" and won the gold medal in the Chinese Contemporary Calligraphy and Painting Innovation Model Competition. Second Prize of the Selection Competition of Outstanding Chinese Contemporary Calligraphers and Painters. Second prize of the first Yaxiang Cup National Calligraphy and Painting Competition in 2023. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China awarded the Special Contribution Award to Chinese Culture. People's Daily commentators commented on Xu Xu as "China's first historical oil painter".
